Dave - Just another run of the mill Brick Lane curry house - very busy (probable disgruntled sun readers who couldn't use their vouchers next door) which was surprising given the average quality of the food. Should have gone to the Kasturi at Aldgate East. Roll on November and the return to the Herb and Spice!
Jon - An average curry with the only point of note was that they failed to add up the bill correctly.† Draught Cobra was good, shamie kebab was good, otherwise average.† Iím confident of much a better culinary experience on the proposed Black Country expedition.
Graeme - We went to this place 'on the bounce' after the Bengal Village refused to honour the terms of the special offer that had enticed us to it in the first place. This was a very small place with everyone jammed in - overall it was OK but nothing special. I enjoyed my starter (King Prawn Puree - only £3.50 so not too extravagant!), the draft Cobra and the price - v. cheap. I marked down the service as the waiters seemed reluctant to give us cutlery with the poppadoms (it's a bit difficult applying the relishes without) and they tried to overcharge us. I knew it was time to leave when Robin got his holiday photos out!
Mark - Spicy chicken nuggets for starters, far better than McD's. No choice but to have the Makaney Chicken for my main meal which was described as mild and certainly was. I haven't had so much yogurt on my plate since my honeymoon in the Troodos mountains. Mushroom rice was quite good. They did not quite manage to hide us right in the corner and the music was very dubious. Overall a solid performance but nothing special.
Robin - A rather cramped interior, food quite good but rather greasy. The special rice would have scored very highly if it hadn't been so oily. The service was good until it came to the bill, which firstly didn't account for the 10% discount and 5 free popadoms the door tout had promised, and secondly was added up incorrectly (too high of course). Not one to re-visit.
