John - Simla Mirchi Murgh preceded by sheek kebab. Top quality food with prices to match!
Graeme - We had a very enjoyable evening out in Islington courtesy of recommendations from Griff's son (John) for both the pub and the restaurant. We met in The York, a large traditional pub which was not too crowded (while we were there). The restaurant had a very nice ambience with, on this warm summer's evening, large doors on two sides open to allow a breeze to waft through. The food was a little disappointing (although not unpleasant). My starter of Geelafi Sheek Kebabs sounded good on the menu but was a little bland. The sauce of my main course Karai Ki Chingri (a black tiger prawn dish) was a bit 'thin'. The bill was higher than I was expecting but I guess that reflects the area.
Dave - Excellent prawn puri and outstanding chicken curry. The nan breads were superb. Bottled Kingfisher and Cobra beers although only expensive small Kingfisher bottles on offer. Not cheap but worth it as far as I am concerned.
Brian - Enjoyed the Zaffrani, although it was a bit on the trendy side. Nice to have pre-curry beers around Angel, brought back some pleasant memories. Monkfish main was the standout dish for me.
