Graeme - This place is a favourite of mine and Dom's and we often eat here after one of our walks. Unfortunately, though, it is a very small restaurant and isn't that well set up for larger parties (like ours). The service was good but there was a long wait to order, and then for the starters to arrive. I also thought the quality of some of the food was not quite as excellent as it normally is. I had my 'go to' starter of Fish (Salmon) Tikka which comes on a bed of half-cooked onions - very nice. For main, I went with the King Prawn Rangeela - I didn't realise that the prawns came whole, otherwise I would not have ordered it - too fiddly. The sauce was very tasty though. All-in-all, it was a very good night out and I enjoyed meeting in The Dolphin - it was a bit like drinking in someone's sitting room.
Jeff - Going up for a Kings Cross-based curry is getting to be a bit of a habit these days. The pub we met in (Dolphin) was very quiet with good beer and just a couple of minutes from the restaurant. As normal these days, except for Brick Lane, service was quite slow. However there was Cobra AND Kingfisher to keep us occupied for the hour or so before our starters arrived. My Puri was unfortunately not served inside the threatened pineapple half but prawns were plentiful. The less said about the colour of my main of Lamb Suka the better, a sort of blood red and sickly sauce covering what was actually tender lamb, although there was not much of it. Rice was ok but veg sadly below average. Altogether an ok meal. Nothing memorable. Generous free liqueurs at the end of the evening.
Richard - The Kings Cross Tandoori was fine but nothing special. My mixed starter was below average: a handful of limp prawns with one king prawn and some average pakora on lettuce. It was rather slow to appear as well. The chicken bhuna main and sides were a touch above average and pricing was reasonable. Conversation points I remember was around pensions, golf and songs to be played during your funeral. Unless my memory is going? Tempus fugit!
Mark - Meeting in The Dolphin I thought Dom had booked the bar as no one else was in there - perhaps everyone else was fooled by his directions? Onto the Kings Cross Tandoori which even from the name you can probably guess is not a 5 Star luxury establishment. However, it mainly does the job with reasonable food, not too bad on service and an average price nowadays. In fact 'run of the mill' was my immediate thought as nothing to over excite nor disappoint. Main of Chicken Sag looked good but a bit heavy on Sag and light on meat. This meant the highlight of the evening was discussion on your funeral music! Just glad Griff was not around to sing every suggestion.
Neil - Met in a very quiet bar not far off Kings Cross, The Dolphin, quite a surprise to us all getting a drink quickly and being able to talk as a group. Curry house was very average apart from the onion bhaji starter which was exceptionally tasty, maybe they have a secret recipe? Sauce for my biryani was a bit bland but the rest was fine. A nice, crispy stuffed paratha, I expect Dom will be marking this low to keep our 6 average overall. A good evening and I believe we've now done the full set of Kings Cross 'promenade' curry houses but Dom and Graeme could prove us wrong!
Dominic - Being a "go-to" venue after our ongoing Thames path walk, I thought it might be good to introduce the Kings Cross Tandoori to the club this month. After drinks in an old fashioned boozer, it was off to the eatery where we were cosily placed on a table alongside the wall - a welcome change in having our table "ready and waiting" upon our arrival compared to last month! Despite being a busy evening, the service was mainly very good except for the delay in receiving our starters, but when they arrived, every plate was full to the brim! I chose the Sizzling Garlic King Prawns which was quite tasty. For main, I had a bespoke King Mix Dish consisting of a very "turned up" mixture of lamb, chicken and king prawn that was again quite tasty. The rest was also good, especially the Stuffed Paratha and the wine, which happened to be the "old fave". A generous round of liqueurs by the owner was also a lovely touch which contributed to a very good VFM mark imho. Lots of banter throughout but I especially liked El Prez's refereeing story ...
Jon - A very pleasant meal at the Kings Cross Tandoori – couldn't really fault the food but the service was somewhat slow. I had a salmon tikka starter and a shaslik-type main although I can't remember what it was called, but both were very good. I'd happily go back.
Robin - My starter of Tropical King Prawn Puree was quite pleasant but could have done with a couple more prawns. My main course was Chicken Tikka Balti, and although the balti sauce was nice enough the chicken seemed quite ordinary with no hint of tikka flavour at all. The veg dishes were very pleasant but the special rice was a bit disappointing – more like a mushroom rice and hardly "special". Nothing really stood out and I felt it was a bit expensive for what we got.
Alex - Liked the place, cosy, easy to get to/from (for me). Bit slow on delivery of courses but otherwise effective service. Starter was very pleasant but nothing outstanding. Main was nicely balanced I thought, some might disagree. So good place overall.
