Jon - Another solid performance from the Gulshan which, in terms of good food at a reasonable price, is difficult to beat.  It's a sign of the times that £30 is considered cheap for a curry night.  Only a couple of things let the Gulshan down - the service was very very slow (although it's understandable to a degree given the size of our party and how busy the restaurant was in general) and the lamb chops in my mixed starter were somewhat chewy and very disappointing.  But the rest of the food was excellent.  I went for the Kali Mirch Chicken, as I did last year, and once again it did not disappoint, the special rice was excellent, the keema nan also good and the veg dishes were all very tasty and of a decent size.  The guests were two of my regular drinking buddies and they added to my overall enjoyment of the evening - top night!

Paul - Poor, slow service but the place is clean and basic so ambience is average. Enjoyed the well chilled bottled larger but starter was bland and boring after a long wait. Nan, Veg and Rice both good and the main was very good, spicy hot with lots of flavour. It was a fair price due to the alchohol consumption. Long live the Curry Club.

Alex - Good food again but glacial service... Was livelier without being annoying – except, of course, for us lowering the tone with the Griff chants!

Mark - Having established in the pub that Dom is an Android from another Galaxy we boldly trecked to the depths of the Gulshan. The service was certainly not warp factor 9 and we had to wait until around 9.30 for our starters which is just unacceptable. The tikka platter was not as good as previous as the lamb chop was very tough. My main was good but lacked bite which is something I have noted before at the Gulshan while the mushroom rice was certainly the highlight - lovely. Flaming zambucha's to finish restored some Service marks although providing them to a bunch of well oiled customers may not have been the best idea as our ex-country member then demostrated how you could pour fire onto the table!

Robin - Despite the dreadfully slow service (probably because the restaurant was completely full - good ambiance) the meal was very good. I had the rather unusual and superb Lassa Jhinga to start (an absolutely huge prawn, butterflied, covered with tiny vermicelli strands and deep fried - it covered the plate - accompanied by a lovely sour mustard and sesame seed dip). I then reverted to an old favourite, Kali Mirch Chicken, which was excellent. The veg dishes were nice but a bit greasy, the keema nan tasted very nice but was a bit spoilt by the fact that the keema kept falling out of it and the special rice was above average but not exceptional. The Gulshan is one of the very few restaurants that still serve draught Indian beer (Kingfisher) - cold and very tasty. The free round of flaming sambuca at the end was a nice touch. Overall a good experience, but they could have done much better if the service had been faster.

Brian - Draught Indian Beer made a welcome return, although it could have easily been re-badged Carlsberg for all I would know.  Duck Tikka starter was lovely, if not exactly plentiful, and I followed Jeff in ordering a chicken something-or-other, which was pleasant enough but probably lacked a bit of kick.  Enjoyed Arsenal and Millwall representatives adding to the football-related banter.

Neil - 1.5 hours for the starter and 2 hours for the main course to arrive. I'm guessing the restaurant had some staffing issues as although we were a group of 13 the place was almost empty when we got there. They seemed to be on top of the beer situation, however, I guess that's where the profit is. Nan was under cooked and main (Lamb Rogan) was simply lamb mixed with a tin of tomatoes with very little else. Very surprising how bad this was given it was a revisit so must have been good last time.

Dave - Overall a good performance from the Gulshan. Draught Kingsfisher hits the spot everytime and the curry was very tasty.  Slow service and pathetic hot towels reduced the service mark. Enjoyable evening with all the curry club anthems being sung at some point (inc the horses a***!) – maybe we should release a CD.

Jeff - The Gulshan, while not outstanding, manages to do the basics pretty well.  The draft Kingfisher is an extremely good feature.  The food was a little above average. There were 13 of us at the table, but even allowing for that the service was a little slow, some members of our party complaining to the staff.  Great conversation at all ends of the table, and altogether an excellent evening.

Graeme - Not my best meal at Gulshan although it may have partly been down to my menu choices. I had the mixed Tikka Kebab Platter to start but the spicy lamb chop was very tough, although the rest of it was good. My main course of Garlic Chilli Chicken was very odd - green (presumably spinach-based) and slightly sour - it was OK but not what I was expecting. I queried that it was the right dish with three separate waitors! Even though the place was almost full, it was still a bit soul-less. The service was VERY slow but they did, at least, make sure we had drinks and poppadoms early on - something that some restaurants fail to do. I was going to mark the beer higher because they had draft Kingfisher as well as bottled Cobra but actually marked it down because mine (a Cobra) wasn't cold enough. Overall, the meal was just ordinary and a bit expensive. Dom was showing off his new tab(let) which was very impressive but had the brightest camera flash I've ever seen - the image of it is still burnt into my retina.

Dominic - A somewhat disappointing revisit for me given we had to wait an eternity for starters. And when it arrived my Tandoori Lamb Chops were so tough they were almost inedible. Service was a tad below par typified by having to ask three times for a drink. On the plus side the sizzling platter of Salmon Tikka main was delicious. The wine was reasonably priced and good but the rest was only average at best. So apart from the main an ordinary night foodwise, however, the company as always was top notch.

Tim - The place was busier than our last visit; which may have contributed to the long wait (about an hour) for our starters, although it can't have helped that there were 13 of us. It was nice to see they were still serving draught Kingfisher, and the wine list was reasonably-priced. For the starter I had tikka kebab platter, which was not bad. For the main course I had Kali Mirch chicken; this was described as a hot Goan dish, but didn't seem particularly spicy to me, although it was quite pleasant. Peshwari and keema nan were both OK, and I had no complaints about the rice or vegetables. Thanks to Dom for arranging a free round of drinks (Sambuca) at the end of the meal. The overall cost of £30 was not bad for the City, though not as cheap as our last visit.
